Loop8: Summer of Gods is a coming-of-age RPG set in a beautifully recreated rural Japanese town called Ashihara in 1983. Players step into the shoes of Nini, a newly earthbound teenager who possesses the “Demon Sight” ability, allowing him to see into the “Underworld” where demonic entities called Kegai lurk. Humanity is on the brink of extinction, and Ashihara is one of its last sanctuaries, protected by a divine barrier that is constantly threatened by the Kegai.

The core gameplay revolves around building relationships with the town’s inhabitants, exploring the environment, and engaging in turn-based battles against the Kegai. A unique “loop” mechanic allows Nini and his allies to repeatedly relive the month of August. Each loop gives Nini the opportunity to alter his actions, deepen his bonds with characters, and influence the outcome of battles, with the goal of ultimately fending off the Kegai threat and preventing humanity’s extinction. The game emphasizes player choices, as an emotion-driven AI system responds to every decision, making each playthrough potentially unique.
